Business News for 4th August 2010 :: Launch of Watford Sustainable Travel Scheme

The Watford Commuter travel plan network brings together individuals and organisations to minimise the amount of traffic generated by businesses in the town and maintain traffic levels as low as practicable.

This will be achieved by:

  • Maximising the potential and encouragement for workers to consider the use of alternative and sustainable transport modes in relation to commuting and business travel.
  • Establishing walking, cycling, the use of public transport, car sharing and other sustainable modes as feasible and realistic alternatives to single-occupancy car use for every day commuting.
  • Encouraging businesses to provide amenities and facilities to support sustainable travel
  • Encouraging businesses to reduce the need for their staff to travel through changes in working practices.
